It’s still not clear how he got the drugs into jail.
Here’s what happened while the Habs gave fans a reason to believe.
Voir, Montreal’s last surviving alternative weekly newspaper, is abandoning its print edition. Nicholas Marin, president and general manager of Mishmash Media, which owns Voir and L’Actualité, said there would not be any layoffs as a result of the change. Marin said employees were told of the plan last week and were “consulted in the process.” Three years ago, Voir went from being a weekly newspaper to a monthly glossy magazine.
The woman charged with injuring ex-Hab Zack Kassian by crashing his truck into a tree will learn her fate in three months. After having heard evidence and arguments over the course of three days at the Montreal courthouse this week, Quebec Court Judge Denis Mondor announced he will deliberate until May 3 before he delivers his decision on the two impaired driving charges Alison De Courcy Ireland, 23, faces in connection with the crash in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. On Oct. 4, 2015, a Ford F-350 truck that was loaned to Kassian by a dealership slammed into a tree just before 6 a.m. When Montreal police officers arrived, they found De Courcy Ireland and another woman, Gemma Brown, waiting outside the heavily damaged vehicle. Kassian, who had just joined the Canadiens, was found in the lobby of a nearby building, his clothes and body covered with blood. His nose and one of his feet were broken in the crash.
The discovery of cocaine inside a Virginia inmate’s prosthetic leg has led to an investigation into a suspected drug distribution operation at that jail. The Free Lance-Star reports officers acting on a tip about drugs stashed in a Rappahannock Regional Jail cell located the 3 to 7 grams of cocaine inside the prosthesis last month. The search warrant affidavit lists the name of the leg’s owner, but the newspaper isn’t printing it because he hasn’t been charged in the case. He was already jailed on marijuana possession charges. The affidavit says his girlfriend collected drug payments from other inmates via the Cash App mobile service. It’s still not clear how the drugs got into the jail. The girlfriend is currently jailed on unrelated drug charges. Her name hasn’t been released.
