CHANGING ROOMS ★★★
Series return, Wednesday 7.30pm, Ten
Years from now, new homeowners will be frantically painting over the geometric pastel murals and replastering the German Schmeared exposed brickwork that will become interior designs trends thanks to Ten’s faithful revival of Nine’s late ’90s reno show. In the meantime, take note of how to tart up a dreary TV room with some homemade art to match the throw cushions. Host Natalie Bassingthwaighte adds her own special sparkle to the project.
Tuesday 8pm, Showcase
Based on the British series from Julia Davis (whose Sally4Ever screens immediately before this) and reworked by Lena Dunham, Jennifer Garner stars as the magnificently neurotic Kathryn, who’s organised a camping trip with friends to celebrate her husband’s birthday. Organised being the operative word. Davis wrote the original in 2016 and the middle-class foibles she targeted are only more apposite now. This is nowhere near as bleak or rude as the original, but its skewering of human imperfection still hits the spot.
